Scheme description
London has many fine 1960's buildings that are now being listed by English Heritage. When it comes to converting or extending these buildings, a particular expertise is required.
37 - 38 Curzon Street, Mayfair is a good example. The client wished to extend this Grade II, mixed use building located in the heart of a sensitive conservation area. After extensive research we found a sketch by the original architect showing that the original concept included balconies on the rear, although these had never been built. The proposals were therefore designed with this knowledge. The original sketches formed part of our application to English Heritage and Westminster.
The design provides new office space at first and second floor together with four substantial 4-bed apartments on the upper floors. The scheme was completed in April 2003.
