Scheme description
This former annex of The British Council offices in Carlton House Terrace was standing vacant and it required a new lease of life as a self contained building.

The existing building had inefficient circulation, narrow floor plates, poor natural light to the ground floor and a concealed entrance leading to a restricted reception.

It was not without potential, as a detailed rights to light and daylighting study established a capacity for an additional 30-40,000 sq. ft., thereby creating a major headquarters office at this prestigious address. The entrance was moved to the centre of the building with a double height reception leading to glass panoramic lifts within a central atrium.

The completed project provided a 40% increase in net internal areas and a dramatic improvement in the quality of the internal environment.

The building was let to Anglo American on completion.
