Royal Exchange House was a redundant 1960’s office building located in City Square, Leeds. We were able to negotiate permission for a 204 room hotel, health club and restaurant whilst retaining existing retail uses at street level.
All this was achieved in spite of strong local pressure to demolish the 20 storey structure. The building has been given a new lease of life by completely remodelling the interior, adding two floors to the podium block as well as recladding the exterior. The design and detailing of the new building is in a distinctly modern idiom using a flush metal panel system and large areas of glazing.
