Experience
Michael studied at the TU Darmstadt in Germany and at the TH Delft in the Netherlands and holds a degree in Architecture and Urban Planning.
After graduating he joined Foster and Partners to work on the Commerzbank building in Frankfurt, currently Europe's tallest office tower and a pioneer project in 'green' architecture. Following the completion of the Bank he worked on a variety of projects including the Dresden Train Station (shortlisted for the Stirling Prize 2007); the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, US; The Treasury in Whitehall, London and Foster's competition entry for the Musée du Quai Branly in Paris.
Michael joined Halpern Architects in June 2002 and has been in charge of the design for a series of the practices major housing projects. These include Elektron, three towers in the Docklands, Plough Lane in Wimbledon and Cambridge Hills Road, a mixed use scheme adjacent to the Botanic Garden in Cambridge.
He led a number of competition entries including proposals for the development of Dalston Lane as well as the redevelopment of the disused St. Andrew's hospital site in Bromley by Bow for 900 units.
He is currently leading a team developing three schemes in Romania with a range of 300 - 2000 units.
Michael became an Associate in 2003 and an Associate Director in 2005.
