Experience:
Gordon Thomson graduated from the Oxford School of Architecture with honours. After working in the design team for a residential developer and then with a County Authority on school design and writing the design brief for comprehensive schools he studied at Edinburgh University, graduating with a Masters in Urban Design and Regional Planning. Gordon worked as an Architect and Planner both in the UK and internationally on projects ranging from a new township and infrastructure in South America for an international oil company to facilities in the Orkneys and developments in Northern Ireland.
Gordon joined Halpern in July 1981 and has taken a lead role in the practice’s major projects, including 100 Piccadilly, City Plaza, Westgate, The Langham Hotel, College House, Gracechurch Street, Lion Plaza and many others.
Since 1994 Gordon has been the Managing Director with responsibility for the overall performance of the practice, ensuring it continues to respond to emerging issues affecting the development of the city to meet the requirements and aspirations of its clients.
Gordon has taken a key role with other senior members of the team in the continuing development of the practice and its restructuring as Formation Architects.
