This unique new house on a chalk escarpment descending down to the River Thames not far from Henley. The site is within a conservation area, designated area of outstanding natural beauty on the outskirts of Cookham, birthplace of the painter Stanley Spencer.
There was initially local resistance to the idea of an uncomprisingly modern house on this very scenic stretch of the Thames, but this carefully crafted design which responds carefully to its setting and makes the most of the views & orientation persuaded the planning commitee who gave it a unanimous vote of approval.
The house was competed in 2010.
